Definitions
Difference in level
the total height that you must climb in the tour, comprising intermediate ups and downs, if there is any.

 

Distance
  the total length of the tour, including the parts where you have to walk.

 

Rideability
  ihe percentage of the tour that you can travel on your bike, without having to walk. The lowest value is for an untrained cyclist, the highest for a skilled and reckless biker. 

 

Time
  the time that it takes to accomplish the tour. The lowest value is for a professional biker, the highest for a Sunday biker that wants to enjoy the landscape.

 

Strenght
the physical strength required to complete the tour:
* short and mainly flat tour, can be done even by untrained persons.
     
** short tour with some steep climbs, can be accomplished by any fit person.
     
*** hard tour with high elevations to climb, suitable only for cyclists in good shape.
     
**** very hard tour with high elevations and steep climbs. There could be many parts where the ground is very harsh and the bicycle has to be carried. Only suitable for bikers in perfect shape.
     
***** extreme tour , with very hard climbs, harsh descents and long parts where the bicycle has to be carried. It requires many hours of intense physical efforts. Only suitable for bikers with outstanding physical and mental strength.
   
Skills
the technical skills required to complete the tour:
* tour without difficulties, mainly on pavement and smooth gravel roads. Can be accomplished by anyone.
     
** demanding tour, partly on harsh gravel roads and tracks, however wide and without obstacles. Requires some experience in off-road biking.
     
*** challenging tour on tracks and paths that can be narrow and steep, but still relatively smooth. Requires good skills in off-road biking.
     
**** very hard tour on hiking paths that can be rough and dangerous. Presence of many obstacles that have to be overcome, partly with the MTB and partly carrying it. Only suitable for expert bikers.
     
***** extreme tour on mountaineering paths that can be dangerous and/or not marked. Requires outstanding balance and perfect control of the bicycle in every situation, together with mountaineering experience.
   
Landscape
the attractiveness of the landscape:
* tour on a flat region or inside a forest, without any landscape.
** tour with some sceneries, however not very interesting .
*** tour with some nice landscapes that are worth a visit.
**** tour with some magnificent landscapes.
***** tour with magnificent landscapes along all the way.

 

Season
  the time of year when the tour is practicable. Depending on the snow and weather conditions, this time lapse can be longer or shorter of the suggested one.

 

Equipment
  equipment you will need on a tour, in addition to the standard equipment.

Mountain biking (MTB) is a dangerous sport. Always wear an helmet and bring the necessary  equipment (mountain boots, warm clothes, enough food and beverage, a map and a compass). Drive carefully. If you arrive at a difficult place, get off your bike  and walk. If you're not able to go by a place, stop and go back.
