first part of the downhill
Mount Carza is the last stronghold of the
chain of mountains that under the spur of Mount Zeda separates the
Cannobina Valley from the valleys around Verbania, and finally decline
into the Maggiore Lake. The two small islands that support the daring
castles of Cannero are its last breath before sinking, and show the
importance this mountain had during the past centuries. The
climb described here starts in Cannero and leads to the summit of Mount
Carza mainly running through paved roads. The descent is on the northern
side of the mountain, which is covered only by tight paths and fire
trails that leads back to Cannobio. |
