Cimetta/1672 m

Descent on the snowed pastures of Cimetta

Cimetta is a small mountain that just reaches a height of 1670 m, but the scenery that it offers is probably one of the more enchanting of all the Maggiore Lake. At its foot the lake, tamed by rows of severe mountains, gives off countless glimmering sparks, and the outlet of the Maggia river gracefully unfolds its green fan. Behind its shoulders a geological tragedy goes on, with the last noble strongholds of the Alps that, lost their primordial tectonic impulse, bend down to the ground and are swallowed by the woods and the plains.

This tour propose the climb to Cimetta mainly along paved roads, while the descent follows the classic MTB trail that, with many narrow U-turns, leads down to the Resa Valley. This trail is relatively wide and smooth and can be faced by bikers that have just average technical skills. On the other hand the more experienced downhillers could be subjected to bore.
