over Locarno and Ascona from Mount Gambarogno
Mount Gambarogno is, thanks to its steep
slopes, the best arena to observe Locarno and the northern part of Lake
Maggiore. Riding on his summit, between grass tuft and lonely bushes,
gives you a unique feeling, almost like the one of flying. The fastest
was to reach the summit is to climb the eastern side, where a paved
roads gets up to 1400 m and a steep path overcomes the last 340 m
of elevation. On the contrary the western side is wild and there are
only a few narrow and steep hiking path that runs through it. The
descent proposed here follows one of them; this tour is thus recommended
only to bikers that have very good technical skills. |
