Cima di Medeglia/1260 m

Beginning of the descent

The road from Robasacco (475 m) to Cima di Medeglia is marked with red cycling signs, so you you can proceed without having to look at the map at every turn. The first part is a pretty steep cement road that goes up to the small village of Colmagnone (758 m). There you have to continue on a wide gravel road, which is as steep as the cement road. After a couple of days of rain the road usually gets flooded, but this is just a small obstacle that makes the climb more interesting.

After six U-turns you get to the crest, and there you have to turn right and keep on following the red signs. They will lead you on a very scenic fire road that goes up to the summit. Pay attention to a bifurcation, there you'll have to go on the right. The last part of the climb is the hardest, 'cause the road gets steep and bumpy. The road stops just a few meters from the summit, but it's worth walking up to the very top.

To ride down you'll first have to go back a few meters along the fire road, then head left. The fire road will help you down for a while, but after a couple of U-turns you'll have to look for a single-track that heads right (just before the military structure). This path is completely rideable, but it's steep and very bumpy, so in a lot of sections you'll have to reduce your speed. After entering the wood you'll reach a bunch of cabins in Prato Grasso (779 m).

The bumpy descent to Prato Grasso

In Prato Grasso you will meet a bifurcation. Here you'll have to head left, following the sign that indicates Monte Ceneri. The single-track gets wider, and after a few more U-turns you'll join a gravel road. Now you'll have to follow the gravel road on the left, and you'll quickly get to a cement road. Head right and the road will take you down to a military area. At the next two bifurcations you'll have to head right; this way you will reach a U-turn with a big gate on the right. Go though the gate and you'll find yourself on a fast single-track that will take you back to Robasacco.
