The
pink gravel road that leads to Alpe Camoscio
Vergante is the small chain of mountains
that divides the Maggiore Lake from the Orta Lake. Even though it's
threatened by the Simplon highway and the near cites, this region has so
far been able to stay clear of cement and mass tourism. Only a few
gravel roads dare to violate its woods and to cross its rivers, but its'
an ephemeral presence, and everywhere the nature is sovereign. This
tour follows the Vergante's ridge, passing through Mount Scincina, Mount
Cornaggia, Mount Toriggia, Mount La Guardia and Mount Tessera. Most of
the gravel roads are in good conditions and the differences in level are
relatively low, still the frequent alternations between climbs and
descents requires good physical conditions to accomplish this tour. |
