Bike-trekking
Bike-trekking is a new way of travelling: to discover mountains, lonely valleys and abandoned alps with a vehicle, the mountain bike, that allows you to cover long distances and to quickly overcome the linking roads that are often an unbeatable obstacle to hikers. In just one day you can cross many valleys that are linked by hiking passes, or follow long ridges and go back down only after enjoying the sunset, or roam without any destination, following the old military roads and the paths that our ancestors build to help the cows to reach the pastures.

This sport is the perfect meeting point between the 3 main currents of mountain biking: cross country, downhill and freeride. The bikers that wants to try it should be able to master all the different techniques. In fact in order to accomplish the longest and hardest tours you should have not only the strength and the endurance of a cross country racer, but also the courage of a downhiller and the skills of a freerider.

But the most important requirement is that you have to be a good hiker: to be able to walk for many hours with the bike on your shoulders, to find a path that has been invaded by weeds and erased by time, to safely go beyond the more dangerous cliffs. This are qualities that need much enthusiasm and much determination to be learned. The price will be the magic places you will discover, the questioning stares of the chamois from their rocky outposts, the mountain world that will become your world.

Then you will realize that bike trekking is much more than a way of traveling: it is mainly a way of living.
